Box Office Battle Royale: Bollywood vs. Hollywood – And a Disappearing Act!

Box Office Battle Royale: Bollywood vs. Hollywood : The Indian box office is currently witnessing a thrilling three-way clash, but only two contenders are truly in the race. We have Bollywood’s action-packed “Baaghi 4,” Hollywood’s horror heavyweight “The Conjuring: Last Rites,” and the much-talked-about, “The Bengal Files.” However, it’s clear from the get-go that “The Bengal Files” is nowhere in contention, rapidly fading into the shadows.

“The Bengal Files”: A Fading Memory?

Despite being based on the tragic and violent events of Direct Action Day on August 16, 1946, and the subsequent Noakhali riots, “The Bengal Files” appears to be struggling. It feels like another installment in the “debates and boring files” genre, echoing “The Tashkent Files” and “The Kashmir Files.” A 3.5-hour runtime is a tough ask for audiences today, and many believe this film would have been better suited for an OTT release, perhaps as half-hour episodes. Its current box office performance certainly reflects this sentiment, with a mere ₹4 crore collected in India over two days. This film, unfortunately, seems to be out of the marathon already.

The Real Showdown: “Baaghi 4” vs. “The Conjuring: Last Rites”

With “The Bengal Files” out of the picture, the spotlight shifts to the two major players: “Baaghi 4” and “The Conjuring: Last Rites.” This is a fascinating clash between the fourth installment of the popular “Baaghi” series and the final chapter of the iconic “Conjuring” franchise.

In “Baaghi 4,” we see Tiger Shroff and Sanjay Dutt locked in a fierce, action-packed battle. The film promises a bloody spectacle with intense, over-the-top fight sequences – the kind of “dark action” we’ve come to expect from the franchise.

Meanwhile, “The Conjuring: Last Rites” brings back the Warren family for their final, terrifying case against supernatural entities. This film also delivers its share of bloodcurdling scenes, but through the lens of horror and ghostly encounters.

Interestingly, a significant portion of the audience is keen on watching both films. However, it appears that a sense of fatigue with Bollywood has given “The Conjuring: Last Rites” a significant lead in this box office race. “Baaghi 4” has managed to collect ₹21 crore in India over two days, a respectable figure. Yet, “The Conjuring: Last Rites” has surged ahead, raking in an impressive ₹35 crore in India during the same period. Clearly, Hollywood has won the first round of this exciting clash.

Both films offer their unique advantages and disadvantages, providing a one-time watch experience for audiences. While Tiger Shroff and Sanjay Dutt are in formidable form in “Baaghi 4,” “The Conjuring: Last Rites” offers the gripping conclusion to the Warren family’s paranormal investigations. As for “The Bengal Files,” it has effectively vanished from the competition, perhaps best saved for an OTT viewing.
